Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't posted anything in months, but I've got some very exciting new to share! It's even bigger than me having signed with TITAN Models...
I'm on the cover of the acclaimed "Barbie" magazine! Not only that, but I also have a two page feature as well.
Q: First of all….Congrats on nabbing the January cover of Barbie Magazine! It is absolutely beautiful, and a huge feat for a new model to achieve early on in her career. How does it feel to be part of the “Barbie” family?
R: Thank you! I'm still pinching myself just to make sure this isn't the best dream that I've had yet. Without a doubt, I am honored to have been given this opportunity to be featured on the January cover. I've owned every issue of "Barbie" magazine since its debut and I really can't get over the surreal feeling of seeing myself on the cover of the magazine. I mean, I was featured on the cover of "LIV" as a part of my prize package, but I somehow managed to book the cover of "Barbie" magazine only about half a year later? No way, no way!
Q: How did you collaboration with the magazine come about in the first place? And did you meet Barbie?
R: I'd like to think I booked this job by my own acclaim, but really...I think my mentor, Grace, had something to do with it. She's been working alongside Barbie for years now so I'm pretty sure Grace and Barbie have been discussing something like this for awhile now. It really doesn't hurt to have an established supermodel supporting you in the beginning steps of your career. Barbie only stopped by briefly to see how the shoot was going, but standing in the same room as her is an experience in itself.
Q: It’s almost a year since you came out on top in the hit reality series, “Top Model by Grace.” How has life changed for you since you epic win?
R: Well, for starters I am now based in NYC. Life has made a new turn since the win. I get stopped by fans of the shows every now and then and it really reinforces the reality of having even competed in the show. It's also a reminder that even though I am a model, I am also a role model to millions of little girls out there. Personally, I think it's helped me grow up a little more.
Q: Last fall you made a huge leap and settled in New York to pursue your modeling career. How have you settled in the city that never sleeps?
R: I think I actually went into a minor shock when I had to transition from living life in LA to living in NYC. It was just such a sensory overload with all the sites and experiences. Everything in New York is just go-go-go that it makes you really appreciate the quiet moments you have to yourself a whole lot more. One thing I've really come to enjoy, however, is the ability to walk or take the subway to essentially anywhere you need to be. I loathe driving and it's just so much better for the environment this way.
Q: Another noteworthy achievement in your resume is signing to TITAN Models’ New York division. What is it like working with the agency, and have you bumped into any of the BNTM winners during your stay?
R: I can definitely see why TITAN Models is held in such high regard in the industry. Even before I got signed, my to-be agent sat down with me and discussed what TITAN would have planned ahead for my career and it was really comforting to know that even though they are a top tier agency, they have a smidge of that home-family vibe that makes the experience all the more better. I ran into Tamizin once, but it's been so crazy busy since then that I haven't had the chance to run into her again. Let me just say though...that girl is tall! I'm bordering on 6'0" and she still towers above me! Insanely gorgeous, too.
Q: Can you relate to the readers out there how different the New York market for fashion is compared to others, like L.A.?
R: From what I can see, New York has a more high-end, effortlessly chic vibe. It's also much stricter in terms of modeling because back when I worked in L.A., the designers would be less strict about size requirements and even in height. L.A. just really has that go-with-the-flow vibe with touches of glamor, resort, and urban.
Q: What does 2014 have in store for you? Will you be making your International debut soon?
R: For starters, I have my feature in "Barbie" magazine! Other than that, there isn't really that much in the cards for me yet. I've been doing a lot of test shoots and such as the agency is still trying to help me develop as a model. I came in a bit late for NYFW, but I definitely want to try and become a runway regular, at least in NY, for the year. I'd love to debut internationally for sure, but its such a huge feat and I want to try and conquer the NY market a bit more. You never know, though, I may just surprise everyone.
Until next time,
